Items of Special Consideration

  • Hairdryers, curling irons, and hair straighteners
  • Anything glass, such as mirrors in makeup kits, aerosols
  • Other items such as tweezers, nail clippers, nail polish and remover, items in metal containers

Items To Leave at Home

To provide a safe and secure environment, Innova Joy does not allow for certain items at our inpatient mental health facility. We kindly ask that your teen leave the following items behind during their trauma treatment stay.

  • Clothing with references to gangs, drugs, or alcohol
  • Clothing with profane, obscene, or suggestive printing, pictures, or designs
  • Wearing pants or other clothing that reveals underwear, shorts must have at least a 7-inch inseam
  • Tank top straps must be at least an inch wide and not show chest from sides; no high heels are permitted
  • Staff will discuss with clients if clothing is inappropriate, and we ask that your teen cooperates with us. Clients are not allowed to trade, borrow, or give away clothing to other residents.

Smoking & Substance Use Policy

As part of the recovery process, Innova Joy wants you to reboot your teen’s system physically and mentally to produce the best of them. Research has been conducted that illustrates how our gut affects the brain, which in turn regulates our emotions.

As Innova Joy aims to help improve the condition in your teen’s gut to regulate their emotions better, we have a no tobacco or substance use policy. No smoking or vaping is permitted. We believe this will help in providing them with the optimal situation to recover during their residential treatment.
